Western Flyers & Don Diego Trio

Last February the Royal Theater presented The Western Flyers (Joey McKenzie, Katie Glassman, and Kevin Kelso). Their amazing talent got 2018 started with a Western Swing bang.

The show was nothing short of world class entertainment. The kind of entertainment folks have come to expect at show time in the Royal. The Western Flyers are returning, but this time with a twist. They are bringing along the Don Diego Trio to share the stage. If you were at the performance last year you know what to expect. Simply a great show. How could it be any better? Put them on the stage with a band from Italy with musical prowess to match The Western Flyers.

The Don Diego Trio blends virtuoso guitar licks and rockabilly honky-tonk to create their unique sound. Hailing from Sicily, the Don Diego Trio were nominated for the Ameripolitan Awards as Best Rockabilly Band for the three year in a row. Telecaster master “Don” Diego Geraci, after 20 years of continuous activity with the Adels, decided in 2014 to put together his own trio, which blends classic rockabilly, sixties country, and honky-tonk, as well as his own “Italian taste”. Joining Diego on guitar and vocals is Marco Mamo Betti on drums and Luca Guizzo Chiappara on double bass.

Pair that with The Western Flyers, one of the most exciting bands to glide on to the music scene in years and you have a formula for an evening not to be missed. The Western Flyers have a unique sound that is a cross section of the Great American Songbook: classic western swing, hot jazz & swing standards, vintage country & cowboy songs, and electrifying old-time fiddle tunes. Joey McKenzie brings his dynamic rhythm guitar style and smooth vocals to the band - along with Katie Glassman, a 3-time National Swing Fiddle Champion and vintage-style singer extraordinaire. The "Baron of the Bass," Gavin Kelso, compliments the band in a mighty way with his incredible upright bass.

There will only be 150 seats so go online the first of March and purchase tickets . The price is $30 a person. A real bargain for this show. See you at the Royal.
